The first LA23NET of the 2018:2019 season took place on Wednesday 12th September. We thought it went brilliantly but we probably would say that. Thankfully at least one other person had something nice to say. It was Des Moore – Chief Executive Officer of The Cumberland no less! Des said:

“What an absolutely amazing event LA23NET is.  The positive energy in the room last night was fantastic.  I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with so many interesting local business people and can’t wait to return to future events.  Keep up the good work.”

Shucks Des, you’re making us blush. Why would Des say such a lovely thing? Find out for yourself here…

What Went Down

A stupendously sizzling night that attracted 70+ wonderful old and new faces to the shores of Windermere. Soph dressed as Bet Lynch to run the bar and Janett knocked people out with her Guinness Punch, all this before Yardie’s barbie, Grant popping his Chair cherry and the Berry-illiant talk.

Talk of the Town

Simon Berry not only regaled us with his historical humour and right royal insight but also showed us his very impressive sword and wore full ceremonial garb. It was fascinating to learn more about the ancient role of High Sheriff and how it has changed over the last thousand+ years from tax collecting to showing judicial mercy. We were agog when we heard how Simon balances his role at English Lakes Hotels with up to ten ceremonial engagements a week! A huge task that Simon acknowledged wouldn’t be possible without a very understanding team behind him, including his wonderful ‘Sheriffina’.

A Caribbean Dream Team

If you ever want to spice up your life, don’t have an affair or buy a fancy sports car…just get Yardie’s in. This hard working and very talented bunch have a brilliant ethos and delicious delicious food guaranteed to get you hot under the collar.

Caught on Camera

Every month we are blessed with beautiful photos courtesy of people papper Victoria Sedgwick and you can check out the full gallery from last night below. This month we were doubly grateful as we also welcomed ace videographer Sheenah Alcock. We’ll share the video with you as soon as it’s edited. VIEW THE SNAPS

We Should Be So Lucky (lucky lucky lucky)

LA23NET is getting ever more popular, the first of the season was a sell out with a waiting list. It got us to thinking, how can we make sure people don’t miss out. Last night when we were enjoying our hard earned post-event gin, it came to us. Incentivise them with booze. Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you….

Teamwork

It’s always a team that pulls LA23NET together and this month we couldn’t have done it without Mike Newton and Graham Lobb bringing some lunchtime muscle, and the Yardies gang for the same at the end of the night. Cheers lads!
